A very exciting day is coming up for the Bitcoin community
May 22, 2010 is known as “Bitcoin Pizza Day.” A Florida programmer named Laszlo Hanyecz purchased two large pizzas for 10,000 BTC: he sent the Bitcoin to another user, who purchased pizzas and had them delivered. It was the first Bitcoin transaction with real world value attached.
This day is celebrated because it created a floor price for Bitcoin, and established Bitcoin as an asset with real economic value. Before this day Bitcoin was just a fun project for developers, but ever since Bitcoin has had purchasing power and an exchange rate with US dollars and other global currencies.
We are celebrating this day in history by having a pizza party at Rotolo’s Craft and Crust. Come and join us Wednesday, May 22nd at 6pm to enjoy a personal pizza for $7.99 (they do not accept Bitcoin yet, sorry) and learn more about Bitcoin.
