Shreveport has officially made it.
Okay, maybe I’m over reacting, but Shreveport, Louisiana has now joined the ranks of cities like New York, San Francisco, London, and Tokyo as one of the few places in the world where you can use an Automated Teller Machine to exchange paper dollars for the digital cryptocurrency Bitcoin. Louisiana based company Pelicoin LLC has launched several Bitcoin ATM’s across the state in Metairie, New Orleans, and now Shreveport. This means that you can walk up to the machine with nothing but a smart phone and paper dollars, and walk away with your stake in the Blockchain without ever entering your bank account or other personal information. If you would like to own some of the global digital currency, go to the Chevron gas station located at 109 E. Bert Kouns Industrial Loop.
This comes at a time when the value of Bitcoin is positively soaring – over $2,500 per whole coin at the time this was written. But don’t let the price dissuade you from buying in – 1 whole Bitcoin is divisible into 100,000,000 smaller units of currency known as Satoshi’s. So even if you only have $20 you can still buy about 700,000 units of the asset known as “Digital Gold.”
Since Bitcoin is the first currency of it’s kind, it’s impossible to predict what the future will hold for this unprecedented technology. But since the underlying technology of the Blockchain has yet to be hacked or broken in the 8 years since it’s inception, it may be safe to assume that we haven’t seen the high point yet. I’m so confident in the future of Bitcoin, I did an interview for KSLA News 12 to talk about it!
