Most IT scams involve stealing passwords or login credentials through clever tricks like phishing. But there are still some grifts that do things the old fashioned way. For example, some of you may have received a letter from the “United States Domain Authority.” This organization is in no way affiliated with the United States, and is not an authority on domains. What they are, is a website that simply lists other websites that have paid them $289. The letter appears very serious and official, but it is simply an advertisement to scare website owners into paying to be included in their directory. Feel free to toss it in the garbage!
